Q. I’m interested in getting wrinkles fillers for the wrinkles around my lips, smile lines and perhaps a lip enhancement. What are my options? What is the difference between Radiesse, Restylane or Juvéderm?
— Alice J.
A: Wrinkles fillers promote a healthier, more youthful facial appearance. Radiesse, Restylane or Juvéderm wrinkle treatment and lip enhancement options counteract sagging, loss of volume and wrinkles due to aging. Aging naturally reduces the amount of hyaluronic acid in tissue, which results in loss of hydration.
Not even the best anti-aging regimen and skin care products can prevent aging. Luckily, the prevalence in non-invasive approaches, enhancements and wrinkles treatment can ensure optimal aging over time and at time slow the process of developing wrinkles.
Formulations such as Radiesse, Restylane or Juvéderm can plump skin, counter act sagging, replenish volume, provide lip enhancement and smooth wrinkles. Dermal fillers are either formations of calcium hydroxyapatite or hyaluronic acid. Radiesse is calcium hydroxyapatite based. Restylane, Juvéderm and Belotero are hyaluronic acid based.
Radiesse injections are used for nonsurgical enhancements, such as nonsurgical chin enhancement and cheek lift. Radiesse is a gel suspension filler with calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres. This dermal filler is used more than other wrinkles fillers for nonsurgical chin augmentations due to its ability to provide structural support. This scaffolding reshapes the chin and jawline. Radiesse also promotes collagen synthesis, which supports new collagen fibers to create contours and add volume.
Radiesse has a thicker consistency than Restylane or Juvéderm, which are both are hyaluronic acid-based wrinkles fillers. Dermal fillers are also ideal for non-surgical facelift procedures. Of the four, Radiesse has a thicker consistency for contouring benefits. In terms of a non-surgical jowl lift, dermal fillers can be injected into both the jawline and cheekbones. This both lifts cheeks and counteracts the sagging of the lower face and prevalence of jowls for more symmetry.
